Support Cruse 'Footprints...walk and remember' event - 19 May 2012

Raise money for Cruse Cymru by taking part in the organisation's ‘Footprints…walk and remember' event on Saturday 19th May. It’s a family fun taking place at several locations across the UK. The day is a fantastic opportunity to raise much needed funds for Cruse as well as to walk in memory of loved ones. Walkers should congregate outside Swansea Civic Centre on the seafront by 10.30am at the latest and should ensure suitable footwear is worn and they have plenty of fluids to maintain hydration levels. Dr. Bill Webster bereavement seminar - 10 May 2012

Internationally renowned grief expert and founder of Canada’s Centre for the Grief Journey, Dr. Bill Webster, is once again delivering his words of wisdom on helping the bereaved and coping with bereavement on Thursday 10th May 2012 at Bethesda Baptist Church, Rogerstone. 

The daytime schedule (10.30am to 4pm) is appropriate for people working professionally with the bereaved. The evening session, suitable for both professionals and the public, is entitled: “Life changes ... and what to do when it does”and runs from 6.20pm to approximately 7.30pm. Tea/coffee will be served afterwards.

Best practice when dealing with the bereaved conference - 09 May 2012


Aneurin Bevan Health Board is hosting a one day event to highlight key issues and good practice when interacting with recently bereaved relatives. The conference is taking place on Wednesday 9th May, commencing at 8.30am and closing at 3.30pm, in the Main Hall, St. Cadoc’s Hospital, Caerleon.

The conference is suitable for medical and nursing staff from primary, secondary and the nursing and residential home sectors and clerical support staff working across all specialities where patients, residents or clients die and clerical support staff who have significant administrative responsibilities which bring them into contact with bereaved relatives.

Introducing SWAN - 23 April 2012

SWAN (Something for Women Alone Now) is a friendship group based in South East Wales for bereaved or divorced women that enables them to make new friendships and enjoy social activities they did as part of a couple, such as meals out, theatre/cinema/concert trips, walks and visiting places of interest, which they may feel less inclined to participate in on their own. Since its launch the organisation has gone from strength to strength and has given many newly single women a new lease of life.

Lovingly Managed at Cardiff Natural Health Show 2011 - 24 September 2011

Lovingly Managed will be exhibiting at the Cardiff Natural Health Show which is taking place on the 24th/25th September at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Newport Road, Cardiff.  We are sharing our stand with Native Woodland which operates several natural burial grounds across the UK two of which are in South Wales at Usk and Cardiff. Denise Jones, one of Lovingly Managed's directors, will be giving a talk on the importance of having Wills, Powers of Attorney and Advance Directives in place, preferably long before they are ever likely to be needed. This will take place at 3.50pm in Room A on the Saturday.  Admission to the talk is free while admission to the show is £4.95 (£3.95 concession) for a day or £7.95 for both days. Children under 12 are admitted free. If you're at the show then please do drop by our stand to say hello.  

Lovingly Managed at the Vale Show 2011 - 10 August 2011

Lovingly Managed are exhibiting at the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show which takes place this year on Wednesday 10th August at Fonmon Castle Grounds, close to Cardiff Airport.  It's a fantastic family day out with lots to do and see so why not make that a date for your diary this summer and pop along to say hi to us too. We are sharing a stand with natural burial ground company, Native Woodland, and Green Willow funeral directors. Hope to see you there. 

Dying Matters Awareness Raising Week 2011 - 16 May 2011

The second Dying Matters Awareness Raising Week is scheduled for the week commencing 16th May 2011. The Dying Matters Coalition is a broad-based and inclusive national coalition of just under 7,000 members, set up in 2009 in response to the Department of Health’s End of Life Care Strategy for England, and so is currently only active in England. Their aim is to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards death, dying and bereavement. On a positive note, the coalition is keen to forge links with relevant Welsh businesses so if your work is linked to the area of bereavement, and you’d be interested in arranging your own events during the week, you can find out more on their website which can be accessed via our Links page.

Lovingly Managed is exhibiting at the Cardiff Natural Health Show which takes place over the weekend 13th/14th November at the Mercure Holland House Hotel and Spa (which is fab by the way), 24-26 Newport Road, Cardiff CF24 0DD.  We are sharing a stand with Native Woodland who operate natural burial grounds in Cardiff and Usk as well as several others across the UK (www.nativewoodland.co.uk). Admission on the door is £4.95 or £3.95 for OAPs, students and people in receipt of benefits (proof required).  Doors open at 10.00am and close at 5.30pm on Saturday and 5.00pm on Sunday.  We'd love it if you could pop along and meet us in person. 

Funeral home open day - 18 September 2010

Tovey Bros, Newport’s oldest firm of independent funeral directors – 2010 is their 150th anniversary – is holding an open day at their stately premises at 9-11 Cardiff Road, Newport NP20 2EH, on Saturday 18th September 2010. There will be an historic exhibition depicting funeral customs of the past as well as the chance to meet and question Tovey Bros staff and representatives of other professional organisations who work in the area of bereavement. The aim of the day is to remove some of the fear and mystery surrounding death and bereavement that arises mainly as a result of people not knowing what to do and what happens when someone dies. The day is open to both professionals and members of the public. Doors will open at 10.00am and close at 4.00pm. Lovingly Managed will be there so why not pop along and see us. Lovingly Managed director to address international conference - 16 September 2010

Denise Jones has been invited to speak at the Women Entrepreneurs of the European Union conference being held in Paris on 16th September 2010. Denise has been invited to address the conference as a result of her ongoing involvement with the entrepreneurial faculty at the University of Glamorgan. She will be talking about the process of taking a unique idea for a business to market.  

Dying Matters Coalition survey - 01 September 2010

Coming to a town near you! Lovingly Managed are going to be taking to the streets in September to complete a survey on behalf of the Dying Matters Coalition. The survey asks questions about people’s attitudes to death, dying and bereavement. It has already been completed in England but we want to find out what the people of Wales think and feel about this highly emotive subject. The results will be passed on to the Welsh Assembly Government and the National Health Service for Wales in the hope that they will use them to inform their decision making regarding future policies that affect these issues. We’ll be in Newport, Cardiff, Bridgend and Carmarthen so, if we stop you in the street, please be nice! Your views are important.

Launch of new web site - 16 August 2010

Hurray, our new web site is up and running. We’re delighted with it and hope it gives visitors to the site a flavour of who we are and what we’re about as well as spelling out in detail how we can help people who wish to plan their own life’s end or need help coping with that of a relative. Many thanks to everyone who’s been involved in its development or helped us by providing pictures and content. However, ultimately, this isn’t a site for us; it’s a site for you – our clients and potential clients – so we’d love to know what you think, positive or otherwise, not just about the web site but about our business in general.
